Welcome to Voice of GBS!
Welcome to Voice of GBS, from the students at the Goizueta Business School at Emory University!
Mission: To provide authentic insights into "life" at Goizueta Business School from the perspectives of its graduate students.
This blog represents our profound thoughts, complex iterations, and witty insights on the exciting experience of being an MBA student at Goizueta. The main reason for creating this blog is so we, the students and members of the Goizueta family, can share from our experiences, in the most honest and organic of forums, the World Wide Web.
While the blog is supported by Goizueta Business School, it is a completely unbiased look into the life of a GBS MBA student. It has been created out of our passion to share the true experience at Goizueta, and we hope you will find it to be nothing more. We encourage questions, comments, and other insights from you, the reader, as well!
On behalf of the Goizueta League of Blogging Efforts We hope you enjoy what we have to share!
GLOBE Blogger Bios (2008 – 2009)
Shanice Wang
Shanice is a drummer who's been playing in a band for two and half years. She is also a surfer who loves the beaches in Taiwan and Croatia and a traveler who's been in almost 30 different countries even though she’s only 26. She wants to live happily after instead of being a successful businesswoman even though she is currently working on her MBA degree.
Chatamet Ruanthip
“Sawasdee” is how we say “Hi’ in Thailand. I am from Bangkok and the only Thai student in the MBA class of 2010. I would like to bring great (Thai and more) food, amazing travel, and cultural diversity to this blog. As I worked in the real estate valuation industry before coming to business school, I feel that Goizueta is like a boutique hotel where you can feel an intimate environment and are served with personalized service. It is a sought-after asset you cannot miss.
Kate Pientka
Kate moved to Atlanta (again) after getting too cold in the Northeast (again.) Now on her second life in the South after moving from Philadelphia, Kate writes about the first year of the full-time program at Emory, fighting to balance life with school, and the journey of an English major and interior designer through a strategy-focused degree.
Vamsi Duvvuri
I am what you get from blending a Computer, Liverpool FC, Scuderia Ferrari, classic rock, Lonely Planet, dark roast coffee, Google, and Competitive Strategy. Before coming to business school, I was working in the non-traditional industry (especially being an Indian) of technology consulting. Post MBA I hope to live!
Parul Lahoti
Parul is not your ordinary MBA, with a background in Biology and Ergonomics; she comes to Goizueta to learn more about business practice from her peers. In her previous life, Parul was an Ergonomics Consultant, and as a result, has traveled to 39 U.S. States, and nearly 12 countries in the world. Parul hope to share her insights on taking the “plunge” back to B-school, life at Goizueta, and how unique opportunities mold the students and “family” at Goizueta!
Lee Miller
I am a new father of a newborn of 8 weeks. I think it is safe to say that my day is not like the average MBA student. I am happy to report that the Goizueta faculty, students and staff have been a terrific support system. Goizueta is definitely a tight-knit community and I am so glad I am here. My goal is to share with prospective MBA students the benefits, rewards, and pitfalls of a first year.
Marissa Mounds
Like her favorite musical icons, Marissa prefers to go by one name. She is a first-year MBA from New England with an interest in marketing and strategy. She spends her free time studying popular culture and reminiscing about her visit to Cuba. Marissa aims to share insights on the first-year experience and life at Goizueta.
David Papa
With a liberal arts education and five years in advertising and web development, David came to Goizueta to learn the number-crunching “hard skills” he’s been avoiding all his life, to unlock the secrets of business strategy, and to meet a myriad of excellent people. He thinks bad sci-fi and horror movies are hilarious, has a personal trainer certification, and needs to seriously improve his time management. David’s best Halloween costume was a Robot Doctor.

ummm, I’m frightened by Robot Doctor,,,but intrigued.
